If you think that Maui has nice beaches, warm water, incredible scenery and a few other niceities, you are right.
But Maui also has great entertainment that you never know where or when it’s going to pop up.
At MACC – Maui Arts and Cultural Center, in the A & B amphitheater on Friday, April 1st, 2011, during the Doobie Brothers concert, who pops up but Willie Nelson.
Nelson was one of several surprise guests to take the stage. Also jamming with the group were former lead singer Michael McDonald and legendary drummer Mick Fleetwood.
What the heck are these guys doing there you ask? Well, they live there most of the time.
I remember back in the early 80′s when the Blue Max on Front St. in Lahaina was THE place to go, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, sometimes all of Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Steely Dan, you name it, the who’s who of music used to pop in and play.
Maui was a small town back then. Maybe only 1 or 2 traffic signals. 40,000 residents. It was just starting to get discovered. And those of us who had a vision and a knowing about the best place to live, moved there. And we were blessed.
